MERITS

This name challenges members to do more than vote. While every party always wants more volunteers who do the hard work of stirring up interest, this party name turns that need into its core concern so that a non-passive attitude is assumed by new members. If it can define what issues activism is needed for, it may be a great party.

DRAWBACKS

The name doesn’t identify any specific value for which activism is required.

MERITS

That public officials should be held accountable to the public they serve is a desirable ideal long over due.

DRAWBACKS

It might be said that each party already promises accountability but just fails to deliver it. Who is to say that a new party by this name won’t also fail to deliver on its ideals? Accountability is ideal and in demand but not the highest priority for a majority of voters.

MERITS

The idea of a government that is easy to communicate with and to receive services from is conveyed by this name. Nobody wants government officials living in a high tower, above the people. Nobody wants to get an autoresponder or a tape recorder when in need. Access to health is also implied.

DRAWBACKS

The name omits many other positive values it might convey.

Abundance Party

Merits

Looking forward to American abundance, or world abundance is a worthy goal. The term could apply to physical abundance of goods, wealth and to abundance of happiness and quality of life, as well. For an American party to take this as its┬ácore issue tends to place America first but doesn’t imply nationalism or isolationism so long as it doesn’t include a name like “American Abundance Party.”

Drawbacks

Any reference to abundance tends to leave out the poor. When an emphasis is placed on wealth of any sort, how does this speak to the many who are in lack? They see the wealthy increasing the income gap in any talk of abundance. A greater GDP is irrelevant to the poor, who only see wealth slipping away when the rich get richer but they are left behind.
